Kibale National Park is one of the few tropical forests remaining in Africa. Kibale National Park is located in western Uganda with the biggest forest cover/portion in Kabalore district. Originally Kibale National Park has been offering only two chimpanzee sessions one in the morning and another one in the afternoon. This would allow the then two habituated communities for be trekked in the morning and afternoon. This time round, Uganda Wildlife Authority has introduced another mid-morning chimpanzee session thus having morning, mid-morning and afternoon sessions. The introduction of three chimpanzee trekking sessions means that more chimpanzee permits will be available to tourists thus increasing the income from chimpanzee trekking. This is a welcome ideas since it will reduce on shortage of chimpanzee permits most especially during the high season of June, July, August, September, December, January and February. Chimpanzee permits for Kibale National Park currently cost USD150.00 per person per trek and for those who want to spend more time with chimpanzees can opt for chimpanzee habituation experience which cost USD220.00 per person for a whole day experience.
