Uganda Travel News

Uganda Wildlife authority has moved to reduce gorilla permit price from USD600.00 to USD350.00 for the month of June 2015 in order to attract tourists to Mgahinga National Park. East Africans will also benefit from this discount at Uganda Shillings 150,000 instead of 250,000shillings. This is a good move as tourists will start visiting Mgahinga National Park in order to enjoy the experience of gorilla trekking.

Mgahinga National Park has one habituated gorilla family called Nyakagezi which has about 14 gorilla individuals. Mgahinga National Park is located in the virunga ranges shared between Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic republic of Congo. Mgahinga has been facing completion from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Volcanoes National Park but with this promotion which is even in June (high season) will help to attract tourists to this park.

Uganda Wildlife authority has been offering discounted gorilla permits in months of April, May and November but tourists have still preferred Bwindi Impenetrable National Park over Mgahinga.

With this discount, tourists will be able to explore other activities in Mgahinga National Park which include golden monkey tracking, the batwa trail and Garama cave among other.
