Gorilla trekking is absolutely one of the highlights in Uganda and Rwanda. Everyday, many people visit Uganda and Rwanda majorly to track the rare mountain gorillas only found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Virunga ranges at the boarder of Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. In order to give a chance to people from different countries, Uganda Wildlife Authority offers different prices for gorilla permits depending on whether you are a foreign but resident in Uganda, Foreign and non resident in East Africa or if you are an East African citizen. Discounted gorilla permits for East African Citizens are supposed to encourage domestic tourism and also to entice them to appreciate what Uganda has to offer.

Discounted gorilla permits for East African Citizens

Discounted gorilla permits for East Africa Citizens only apply to all those that were born or hold passports that belong to Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Burundi. In the months of June, July, August, September, October, December, January, February that are regarded as high seasons, discounted gorilla permits for East Africa citizens cost Uganda Shillings 250,000 which is an equivalent to USD40.00 depending on the prevailing exchange rate at the time of booking and confirmation. In the months of April, May and November, East African citizens still benefit from Low season discounts by acquiring a gorilla permit from Uganda Wildlife Authority at only Uganda Shillings 100,000 which is about USD30.00. (Please check prevailing exchange rate at the time of booking.) All these rates apply to 2015 and should you wish to travel in 2016, do not hesitate to contact us for more details. For you to benefit from discounted gorilla permits for east African Citizen, you are supposed to provide your passport, and or identity card before Uganda Wildlife Authority approves this.

Discounts are also extended to Foreign resident in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi. During normal high season months, Foreign residents pay USD500 for a gorilla permit instead of USD600 paid by foreign none residents. In Low season, they pay USD300 instead of USD350.00. For you to benefit from this, you will have to produce your working permits to prove that indeed you are foreign but working in any of the East African Countries.
