Challenges faced during gorilla trekking in Uganda

In order to have a successful gorilla trek in Uganda, one has to prepare very well so that on the real trekking day, all is in order. Challenges faced during gorilla trekking in Uganda include trekking for long in the forest looking for mountain gorillas, steep sloping hills of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park mainly in the southern part, raining during your gorilla trek, thick vegetation in the forest and probably when allocated a gorilla family that is moving fast.

To avoid challenges faced during gorilla trekking in Uganda, you need to prepare for both short and long treks such that you are not caught by surprise. Gorilla family allocation in Uganda was changed such that tourists can now ask for easier, longer or medium treks and this is decided on ground on the day of trekking. You therefore need to inform Uganda Wildlife Staff about the type of trek you want so that they can then group you accordingly. This does not meant that you will be guaranteed of a shorter or medium trek since they cannot determine the rate at which these mountain gorillas will be moving from one place to another. If you are not fit enough, we then advise that you hire a porter who will be in position to give you that extra push or pull during your gorilla trek. Porters cost an extra fee but it is worth it. Make sure that you have the right gorilla trekking gear and follow instructions during briefing. It all starts with your tour operator who should be in position to advise you on how best to have a challenge free gorilla trek. Contact us now and we will give you advice that you can rely on.
